San Antonio is the second town of Ibiza and the base of the west coast. Its wide bay faces the sunset, the harbour is full of day boats, and the best coves of the island, Cala Salada, Cala Bassa and Cala Comte, are 10 to 15 minutes away.
The short answer
Sant Antoni de Portmany sits on the west coast, 15 km from Ibiza Town and about 25 minutes from the airport. The bay faces west, which is why the sunset strip with Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo became famous. Most west coast boat trips leave from its harbour, and Cala Salada, Cala Gracio, Cala Bassa and Cala Comte are all a short drive or boat ride away.

The town has two faces. The West End is the bar strip with a young British crowd. The Sunset Strip on the north side of the bay is calmer, with Cafe del Mar and its neighbours facing the sea and the small islands of Conillera and Bosc in front. Between them sits the harbour, where nearly every west coast boat tour starts.
For us it is the best place on Ibiza to rent a boat without a licence: the bay is protected, the coves are close and you can be at Cala Bassa or Cala Comte in twenty minutes of easy motoring.

Frequently asked questions
Is Sant Antoni only for partying?
The West End is, the rest is not. The sunset strip, the bay walk and the coves to the north are quiet and popular with families and couples.
Where is the best sunset in Sant Antoni?
The Sunset Strip at Caló des Moro, in front of Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo, or from a boat in the bay, which is what most people who ask us end up doing.
Which coves are close to Sant Antoni?
Cala Gracio and Cala Gracioneta walking distance north, Cala Salada 10 minutes by car, Cala Bassa and Cala Comte 15 minutes south west.
Can I rent a boat without a licence in Sant Antoni?
Yes. Several operators on the harbour rent small boats with no licence required for a few hours or a full day. Send us your date and we send options and prices.
How do I get from Sant Antoni to Formentera?
Drive or bus to Ibiza Town and take the ferry, or book a full day boat from the harbour. The crossing from the west coast is longer, so a private boat is a long day.
Is Sant Antoni far from the airport?
About 20 km, 25 minutes by car in normal traffic. The airport bus takes longer.
