1. Sail to Formentera for the day
Thirty minutes of open sea from Ibiza town and the water changes colour. A day boat anchors off Illetes and Espalmador, you swim, lunch on board or ashore and sail back with the sunset. It is the single most requested day we arrange.

2. Walk the walls of Dalt Vila
The fortified old town of Ibiza is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the walk from the Portal de ses Taules up to the cathedral takes 30 minutes at a stroll. Go an hour before sunset, when the walls turn gold and the terraces open.

3. Es Vedra at sunset
The 380 metre rock off the south west coast is the island's postcard. Cala d'Hort has the beach and the restaurants with the view, and the Torre des Savinar cliff above it has the silence. By boat you sail under it.

4. The west coast coves
Cala Comte and Cala Bassa are the two bays with the clearest water on the island, with beach clubs on the sand and public beach next to them. By car they fill by 11:00 in August, by boat from Sant Antoni you arrive from the sea and swim first.

5. A night at a superclub
Pacha, Amnesia, Ushuaia, Hi Ibiza and DC-10 are the reason many people fly here. Ushuaia runs from late afternoon to midnight in the open air, the others from midnight to sunrise. Indicative door prices run EUR 40 to 100. The sunset boat party with club entry bundles the two.

6. Sunset in Sant Antoni
The west facing bay of Sant Antoni is where the sunset bars started, Cafe del Mar among them. Sit on the rocks of the sunset strip with a drink from 20:00 in summer, or watch it from a boat in the bay.

7. Kayak and snorkel the north coast

8. The hippy markets
Las Dalias in Sant Carles (Saturdays, plus summer nights) and Punta Arabi in Es Canar (Wednesdays) are the two markets that survive from the 1970s. Crafts, clothes and live music, better for the atmosphere than for bargains. Go in the morning before the buses arrive.
9. Hike the coast
From October to May the island is a hiking place: the cliff path from Cala d'Hort to the Savinar tower, the coast north of Sant Antoni to Cala Salada, and the pine forests of the north. Guided walks add the stories and the coves you would not find alone.

10. Rent a boat without a licence
Boats up to 15 hp can be rented in Spain without a licence, and Sant Antoni, Santa Eulalia and Ibiza town all have them by the half day or day. It is the cheapest way to reach the coves under your own steam. Tell us the date and we find one.

11. Santa Eulalia and the Puig de Missa
The east coast town is the family capital of the island: a long promenade, a marina and the whitewashed fortified church of the Puig de Missa on the hill above it. The Sunday drums at Benirras beach in the north are a 30 minute drive from here.
12. Ses Salines and the salt flats
The salt pans south of the airport have been worked since Phoenician times and are a natural park today. The beaches of Ses Salines and Es Cavallet sit inside it, and the road through the flats at sunset, with the flamingos, is one of the best drives on the island.

How much does a day trip to Formentera from Ibiza cost?

Buses link Ibiza town, Sant Antoni, Santa Eulalia, the airport and Playa d'en Bossa well, and there are summer boats from Sant Antoni to the west coast coves. The north and Cala d'Hort need a car, a taxi or a boat. Many guests do the coast by boat and skip the car entirely.
Is Ibiza worth it if you do not go clubbing?
Yes, and most of this list has nothing to do with clubs: the walled town, the coves, Formentera, the markets and the hiking season. Stay in Santa Eulalia or the north, go to the beaches by boat and you may never hear a DJ.
What is included in a boat day to Formentera?
On a small group sailing trip, usually the skipper, fuel, snorkelling gear, drinks and snacks or a light lunch, for about 7 hours. On a private charter the boat and skipper are included and catering is optional. The ferry includes the crossing only.
Can you see Es Vedra without a boat?
Yes. Cala d'Hort beach faces it, and the Torre des Savinar path above the beach gives the classic clifftop view, a 20 minute walk from the car park. Both are free. By boat you pass under the rock, which is the other way to see it.
