The opening parties in May and the closings from late September are events in their own right, with line ups that many people prefer to a normal August night. They fall on weekends, they sell out early and they fill the island for three or four days at a time. If one particular party is the reason for the trip, book the flight and the bed before the ticket, because the beds go first.

Boat parties
The sunset boat party is the island's own format: three or four hours out of Sant Antoni or Ibiza town with a DJ on board, a swim stop and, in most packages, entry to a club afterwards. It works because it puts the sunset, the music and the door into one ticket instead of three. A private boat with a skipper is the calmer version of the same evening, and it lands your group back at the port in time for the club.
